How your dinnerware gets made

We make every set to order in our Asheville studio. It takes about six weeks from the sample box to your table.

  1. Stoneware cups in white and speckled glazes on a white shelf
    01 Week 1

    Choose the clay and glaze

We post you six glazed tiles and a cup in each clay. Keep the ones you like and tell us how many settings you need.

  2. A potter's hands shaping a clay pot on a spinning wheel
    02 Week 2

    Thrown on the wheel

One potter throws every piece in your set, so the plates and bowls match in weight and rim.

  3. Unglazed clay cups stacked on a pale table
    03 Weeks 3 and 4

    Dried and bisque fired

The pieces dry slowly for a week. A first firing then makes them hard enough to glaze.

  4. Pottery studio shelves with glaze buckets and finished pieces
    04 Week 5

    Glazed and fired again

We dip each piece in your glaze and fire it a second time. After this firing the set is safe for the dishwasher and oven.

  5. Blue glazed plates and bowls stacked on a wooden shelf
    05 Week 6

    Packed and delivered

Each piece is wrapped in recycled paper and sent in a double box. If something breaks on the way, we make it again.
