What happens to a file after you upload it

Client documents pass through three stages on our platform. Each stage has its own safeguard.

  1. In transit

    Sealed on the way in

    Uploads and downloads use TLS 1.3. We turned off older protocols that are easier to break.

  2. At rest

    Locked with its own key

    Each file is stored with AES-256 encryption under a separate key, so one leaked key opens one file at most.

  3. Access

    Opened only by people you invite

    Share links expire on the date you set, and every view is written to the matter's audit log.
